Seems like this has been happening a lot since the beginning of the year. Time just seems to fly past, leaving me with no
time to blog...or write. Frustrating, this winter has been. Snow. Snow. And more snow. I saw on the news the other night we've already gotten more this year than we did the entire season last year. Great.
So, to catch up on some of the things happening around here (besides sitting and watching the snow fall), my mom had surgery in Louisville last week and is doing remarkably well. All the tests are back, and she is cancer-free! :) She came home this past Sunday and called me Monday to say she had been craving Moonlite Bar-b-que. Now, for those of you not familiar with Owensboro, we are the bbq capital of the world. So, being the dutiful daughter, I picked some up for her and headed to my hometown. I had not stopped in Hawesville for at least fifteen years, just passing through to one destination or another, but I wasn't surprised to see not much had changed. Hawesville is one of those tiny town time seems to forget. I laughed to myself as I came out of the post office after picking up Mom's mail and ran into a man wearing a raccoon-skin hat. 'Yep,' I thought, 'I'm definitely back in Hancock County!'
Through all the snow-covered days, we have been able to count on our one ray of light. CJ is growing so fast. His favorite movie is, DESPICABLE ME and we watched it four times in a row when he was here last week. Unfortunately, he also has a new BARNEY fixation, but he's always willing to help the girls with their homework.
And finally, I found out we've lost another sweet classmate. My friend, Amanda, talked about Gerryl so eloquently
here, I will only add that he will be missed, but I'm glad he is finally whole again. Rest in Peace, my friend.
